EDPW & F-GKIA
Dropzone & Airplane
Airport Waizenhofen
The Airport Waizenhofen with the identification number "EDPW" has become very special to the colibris. Here, they were able to build a dropzone and create a place for everything connected to the sport of skydiving.
The runway is pretty short, with only 420m in total length. However, this is no problem for our plane PC-6: this plane type is well-known for it's STOL (short takeoff and landing) characteristics.
Most of all (apart from a small strip of forest) the dropzone is free all around from any obstacles such as fences, powerlines, or rivers.

The Classic Skydiving Plane Pilatus Porter PC-6
The model PC-6 is manufactured by the swiss company Pilatus already since 1959. Its long nose stems from the fact that back in the day, this plane used piston engines, which by now of course have been replaced by turbojet engines.
All around the world, the PC-6 is often used for skydiving purposes, since (apart from its STOL characteristics) it is a very sturdy and reliable airplane, that can bring 10 skydivers to exit altitude in no time at all.
